Message from General Chairs

It is our great pleasure to welcome you all to Taipei for the 2nd Asia Pacific Workshop on Mixed and Augmented Reality (APMAR) on April 13-15, 2018. APMAR is the successor of the Korea-Japan Workshop on Mixed Reality (KJMR) which has been held between 2008 and 2015, and the Asia-Pacific Workshop on Mixed Reality (APMR) held in Andong, Korea in 2016. We are very delighted to serve as the workshop chairs of the Second APMAR, following the success of the First APMAR taken place in Beijing on July 2-4, 2017.

The Second APMAR is organized by National Taiwan University, Taiwan Association of Computer-Human Interaction (TaiCHI) and ACM SIGCHI Taipei Chapter. We are thankful for the kind helps from Academia Sinica, Tainan National University of the Arts, Information Technology Software Academy, National Palace Museum, NTU IoX Center, Institute for Information Industry, and ACM SIGGRAPH Taipei Chapter. Especially, we are indebted to the generous sponsorships from Trend Micro Inc., Jorjin Technologies Inc., Digimax Inc. and Ubitus Inc.

This year, we are honored to have Professor Ming Ouhyoung from National Taiwan University and Professor Masahiko Inami from the University of Tokyo to deliver interesting keynote speeches on April 14 and 15. Also, we have invited a prominent artist, Professor Ya-Lun Tao, to give the closing speech at the end of the workshop. We are much obliged to the four Program Chairs, Chu-Song Chen (Taiwan), Youngho Lee (Korea), Yue Liu (China), Nobuchika Sakata (Japan), and all the program committee members, for selecting 22 oral papers and 10 poster papers out of the submitted papers. Also, we would like to thank the Demo Chairs, Professor Neng-Hao Yu and Dr. Chun-Ko Hsieh, for arranging the demo session. Out of the 16 accepted demos, the workshop attendees will choose the best demo via voting, and the winner will be granted an award of US$1,000. We believe you will enjoy the demo sessions on April 13 and 14.

About

The 2nd Asia Pacific Workshop on Mixed and Augmented Reality (APMAR) will be held in Taipei on April 13-15, 2018. APMAR is the successor of the Korea-Japan Workshop on Mixed Reality (KJMR) which has been held between 2008 and 2015, and the Asia-Pacific Workshop on Mixed Reality (APMR) held in Andong, Korea in 2016. The 1st APMAR has been successfully taken place at Beijing on July 2-4, 2017.

The 2nd APMAR is now seeking for submissions related to AR, VR and MR. In the last decade Mixed Reality (MR) has evolved from being experimental technologies to mainstream research activities that are starting to show impact on industry and society worldwide. The aim of this workshop is to create opportunities for sharing and exchanging research results and practical experiences in this exciting field.
